First Posting!!!

This is a blogspot about Marcellus Shale in Pennsylvania as it pertains to Western PA. Moon Township officials have not done enough to protect the health, safety and welfare of Moon Township. Many of us have witnessed increased traffic, noise, pollution, development, and now, prospecting for Marcellus Shale.

In our community, we have the two biggest drillers in the region: Atlas Energy and Range Resources. Apparently, Atlas has been purchased by the multi-national oil company, Chevron.

Our governor has decided that taxing Marcellus Shale is a bad idea, as do many in the legislature who support his agenda. Our governor has now opened up our parks to drilling, and Allegheny County executive Dan Onorato feels drilling on airport lands, especially those in Moon Township is a fine idea.

All of this exploration could easily have a detrimental affect upon the quality of life, property values, and the health, safety and welfare of Moon Township.

In the upcoming posts, those involved with this blogspot will post what rules and regulations the township and the board of supervisors are doing to protect all of us. In addition, we will post articles and links that you might find interesting and relevant.

If you have links, too, or want to join our coalition, let us know by posting a comment. An email address will eventually be set up for you to send us your address.
